1) California Dreamin' - This song has staying power - still one of my top 7! Mama Cass, eat your heart out!
2) Cath - Death Cab for Cutie - Good lord what a beautifully sad song...
3) Cherub Rock - Smashing Pumpkins - Fantastic intro, tremendous guitar licks
4) Color Me Once - Violent Femmes
5) Crash - The Primitives
6) Convoy - CW McCall - OK, not one of my top 7, but I had to throw this link on here. My brother had this LP, and I remember listening to this song as a little kid. And I vividly remember when they made a movie about this. Anyhow, just an excuse to throw up a link for one of the most unlikely #1 pop songs of all time.
7) A Comet Appears - Hmmm, iTunes says it starts with a C. Wow I love this song.
How much of a stud is CW McCall??? That video rocks!!!
ReplyDeleteGeez, you hit a lot of my favorites. This one was VERY HARD for me. "C" is kinda my letter. Here are my sloppy seconds:
ReplyDeleteCulture War - Arcade Fire
Cowboys - Portishead
Cornerstone - Arctic Monkeys
Calm Like You - Last Shadow Puppets
Codex - Radiohead
Ceremony - Joy Division/New Order
Catholic Pagans - Surfer Blood
Mmmm, Surfer Blood would have been in my Top 7. Ceremony, Cowboys, and Culture War just missed the cut.
ReplyDeleteI must ask...was Ceremony a consideration for you Mike?
ReplyDeleteYep!
DeleteI still almost don't believe that CW McCall is a real person. He just seems like a hoax. Mayor of Ouray, Colorado my foot.
ReplyDeleteCeremony is just New Order. Get over it.
This is a weird one. Many of mine are very old songs.
Cecilia - Simon & Garfunkle
Cosmic Dancer - TRex
I had three Cure songs in a tie. Rock Paper Scissors and Close to Me won.
Cotton Fields - CCR
Cats in the Cradle - Harry Chapin
California Stars - Billy Brag and Wilco
Canal Street - Love as Laughter
This is a very male dominated post. Thank God for the Mamas.
I love you guys! So fun!
ReplyDeleteListening to Surfer Blood right now, I need to buy that album. That's one of those songs that I loved the very first time I heard it. (not just the first time, the VERY first time...lol)
Cats in the Cradle and Cecilia were on my short list as well. I'm curious what the other two Cure songs were...Charlotte Sometimes and Catch?
I don't remember that TRex song, but its very cool.

ReplyDeleteMisty, please refer to Wikipedia concerning Ceremony

It is a Joy Division song re-recorded by New Order. New Order could write the gold Ian Curtis crapped out on a daily basis.
